During pregnancy the body produces a hormone called relaxin to relax the ligaments of the pelvis so that it can open to assist in the delivery of your baby.  However this leads to a loss of stability in the joints and so the supporting muscles tighten up for more support.  As you become more pregnant and your centre of gravity moves further forward, these supporting muscles and your postural muscles are put under a lot more strain and can develop multiple trigger points.

Trigger points are hyper-contracted bands of muscle and connective tissue with hyper-sensitised pain receptors interwoven into them. These trigger points can cause severe pain in the lower back which can refer into the legs causing stiffness, weakness, numbness and pins and needles.

Chiropractic treatment can help remove these trigger points and harmonise the movement of the spine, so that the supporting muscles can work more effectively and more comfortably.
